More of Three Mo’ Tenors

In Yesterday’s post I spoke about an amazing Broadway show called
Three Mo’Tenors” and about the incredible talent of the three singers.
Backing up Three Mo’ was the musical director - with as much talent
as the three singers themselves.

His name is Keith Burton. Keith plays the piano with as much soul as
a Ray Charles or Billy Joel. He has exceptional technique, phrasing and creativity.
He swings as well as the best piano players ever - Fats Waller, “Count” Basie,
Nat “King” Cole, Duke Ellington… Keith can even play New Orleans Funk
as well as Dr. John.

Some of Keith’s playing was at blinding speeds, faster than Oscar Peterson.
He is undoubtedly one of the best piano players on the planet.

I wondered how all these talented musicians acquired such an abundance of talent?

After doing some research on each of them I discovered a similarity that they
all had in common. They all loved music, they all studied music at an early age
and they all spent a lifetime perfecting their craft and honing their skills.

I pondered how the non-musical could acquire a modicum of musical talent
and I found a musical instrument that anyone can learn to play.
It is a ”New” musical instrument from the homeland of one of the
Three Mo’ Tenors, South Africa.

The instrument is called the Kalimba. The advert says that the Kalimba
Is so Easy To Play… Anyone
