Graduation Day Speech by Oprah Winfrey
I graduated from Howard University a couple decades ago.
I don’t remember who spoke at my graduation ceremony.
But this year 2007, Howard University’s 139th graduating class
will probably never forget who spoke at their graduation ceremony.
Oprah Winfrey was the commencement orator.
Oprah Winfrey has long believed that education is the door to freedom.
The actress, talk show host, and producer received a Doctor of Humanities
honoris causa for her lifetime achievements and stellar contributions
to the global community.
“The Oprah Winfrey Show” has remained the number one talk show for 20
consecutive seasons. The show is produced by her own production company,
Harpo Productions, Inc.
Oprah’s show is seen by an estimated 48 million viewers a week in the
United States and is broadcast internationally in 126 countries.
Oprah encouraged the Howard University graduates to use their lives
to make a difference in the lives of other.
