2006 was a record fundraising year for colleges and universities.
Nationally, donations from alumni rose 18.3 percent from 2005, according
to new figures being released by the Council for Aid to Education (CAE).
Colleges and Universities brought in an all-time high of $28 Billion Dollars…
– a 9.4 percent jump from the year before.
Stanford University collected $911 Million Dollars, the most ever collected
by a single university.
Stanford was followed by Harvard University, which raised $595 Million.
Yale University raised $433 Million.
The University of Pennsylvania raised $409 Million.
All of the biggest fundraising schools are large research institutions
with medical schools that typically attract private support for research
from well beyond their alumni base.
Rounding out the top 10 were Cornell, Southern California, Johns Hopkins,
Columbia, Duke and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which was the top
fundraiser among public universities, raising $326 million.
As you can see, many colleges and universities have money to help you.
Apply between Jan 1, 2007 and June 30,2008.
To determine your eligibility for federal student financial assistance,
you need to complete the FASFA.
Although you might have to complete an additional application in order
to be considered for financial aid from your state or the school you’re
interested in attending, most states and schools use FASFA information
to award nonfederal student aid.
